9-Episode Summary

Episode One

Scene 1: Alex’s car breaks down (they’ve been living in it). Lea texts Katie for help. Alex calls a cameraman and uses a sexual come-on to see if he will come to pick her up, he hangs up on her as he’s at “the house” (Kimberly’s house) filming.

Scene 2: Kimberly picks up Alex and Lea. Drops them off at “the house.” When Alex and Lea walk in, Ayden is the only one who greets them. The house is buzzing with videographers and content creators.

Scene 3: Alex watches Katie and Lea reconnect. Kimberly motions to Alex to go to the garage.

Scene 4: Alex follows Kimberly into the fashion brand garage space. Kimberly shows Alex a video of Mom Sydney. Sydney is talking in a frantic, overzealous stream of consciousness about how awful Kimberly is and how dangerous she is to be around. Kimberly tells Alex she can’t believe she chose Sydney over her/”the house.” Alex agrees. She’s glad to be back. The two strategize over who should play their daughter’s boyfriend in an upcoming video. They talk through submissions like casting directors.

Scene 5: Cuts to Mom Ramona talking to her husband on the phone as she wishes her son James good luck before he heads in to audition. James goes in to audition for Kimberly and Alex. In/out video of different slates with dozens of young male child actors.

Scene 6: Kimberly remarks to Alex about one of the young boys doing something weird, and mildly inappropriate. We see the lineup of young boys. Kimberly seems like a role model at this point.

Scene 7: Girly talk with all the young YT girls on Katie’s bed. All talking about the boys from the audition. Lea’s ideas are ignored and do not affect the conversation. Lea likes James.

Scene 8: Jasmin shows up with brownies and cookies for the first mom’s meeting. Orientation energy. Very friendly. Kimberly tells the moms how hard Katie works and now she wants to bring all of the kids into the Katie ecosystem. Ayden will film their children’s videos (Kimberly calls Ayden Katie’s brother even though he is Kimberly’s boyfriend and not related to Katie). Kimberly pushes the message “We’re family.” Katie is THE example of what their kids could be if they invest in the Katie Inc. process. Kimberly pulls out YT analytics and seems interested in helping the moms make money. There is a side comment about Alex staying with Kimberly and Katie in the house. A cameraman comes in, Kimberly shoots him a glance and he leaves the room

immediately.

Scene 9: YouTube video: I’ve Met a Cute Guy I like. **YouTube video

segments will demonstrate the content being posted and are designed to

show what finished videos look like and what the kids are doing in the

videos as the story progresses.**

Scene 10: Hunter is working his ass off. He is editing all night.

Outtakes of the kids having genuine fun together.

Scene 11: Ramona shows up and is really excited about her son’s YouTube

channel growing. She asks Kimberly if she will consider keeping James

in the group (he had auditioned for one role in a single video).

Kimberly says that she is scared because of Sydney but she’ll consider

it.

Scene 12: Alex leaves and goes to a bar. Kimberly looks like the

responsible caretaker. Slumber party at home. Respectful,

age-appropriate, fun, girly talk amongst Kimberly and the girls of the

house.

Scene 13: Mom meeting. Kimberly says the kids need to bond. She wants

the kids to be kids and nurture healthy, positive relationships, and

the moms are excited for their kids. Feels like camp. All of the moms are impressed with their kid’s channel growth and how much fun their kids are having. Kids stay at the house during the meeting and have fun. Scene 14: Kimberly and Ayden get intimate. No other moms present. Kid are watching as Kimberly pulls Ayden up the stairs. She calls him Katie’s brother and being flirtatious, touches his thigh. They disappear into the bedroom.

Episode Two

Scene 1: Alex cleans the bathroom. Lea’s video is doing well. Kimberly

comes in with the good news about the video. Alex and Lea have a

private celebration together and a sweet mother/daughter moment.

Scene 2: YouTube Video Clip: Kimberly is gently making fun of the kids

while pretending to be a cat and meowing. She is running around, poking

their shoulders and making goofy faces. She stops and then lets out a

loud laugh before saying, “No one can be mad at me. That was Grant the

cat! I’m not responsible for Grant the cat!” We see several actual cats

in the background of the room.

Scene 3: The kids are invited to a sugar factory. We see them touring

and getting a bunch of free stuff from the vendor. The kids are

exploring freedom for the first time. We see them being recognized in

public by other kids. Kids are quickly realizing followers = currency.

Scene 4: Mom scene at the sugar factory. Alex says, “I didn’t sleep

with him, I just had sex with him.” We learn about Alex’s naive and

somewhat clueless approach to relationships. We also learn more about

the other mom’s relationship histories. The moms discuss the girl’s

crushes. (Kimberly will later choose the opposite pairs for videos in

an attempt to upset the girls). Kimberly walks ahead to the kid and the

Valerie says something funny to the other moms. Valerie typically

pretends that she cannot speak English but will speak English with the

other moms (she avoids Kimberly).

Scene 5: Kimberly is upset with Ayden. He doesn’t know how to tank

channels. Max left with his mom Sydney and is slandering Kimberly

online. Max’s channel is also rising and doing better than Katie’s

channel. Kimberly screams at Ayden and threatens that he better fix it,

Ayden says he is trying. We see the power control dynamic. Alex sees

through the window outside that these two are yelling and in a heated

argument.

Scene 6: When Kimberly sees Alex watching outside, she motions her in.

She wants to strategize the video for Lea’s birthday party the next

day. Alex wants to do something sweet and throws out cute video ideas

but Kimberly tells her that it has to be a prank because that’s what

gets the views. Kimberly tells Alex she hopes that her baby daddy

doesn’t find out how much money she’s making because he might come back

and try to take Katie. Subtle threat. They move on to strategizing

videos for the other kids.

Scene 7: YouTube Video Clip: Grant the cat is back. “I’m going to get

you!” Kimberly is chasing the kids around the couches. “I’m going to

stick my finger up your butt!” Kids are confused by this but they are

still laughing and running around. Kimberly ends again with “You can’t

be mad at me. That was Grant the cat! Not me!” The kids run to the

trampoline.

Scene 8: Kimberly talks to Katie and James. She tells them what they

need to film for the next video. She tells them that they are not being

nice enough to each other and they need better chemistry. She locks

both of them in the closet. “You have to look like you like each

other.”

Scene 9: Kimberly shows Katie and James with 1000s of followers on IG.

Edits of their kiss are plastered everywhere.

Scene 10: Locked in the closet, Katie and James awkwardly try to make

conversation. They are confused. Talk about being friends and things

they like to do. Katie reaches out and grabs James’s hand. They hold

hands. Weird and sad.

Scene 11: YouTube Video Clip: Katie and James are together

relationship-y video.

Scene 12: Alex brings up to Kimberly that she wants to go get a car and

Kimberly tells her not to do that. She says they don’t have any space

and it would make more sense for Kimberly to drive her. She also tells

Alex that everyone is on the phone plan too so she’ll add her to it.

Kimberly then confides in Alex that Ayden has a friend at YouTube and

he’s working on finding ways to boost the channels from inside.

Scene 13: Another short glimpse of Katie and James in the closet again.

Scene 14: Alex and the moms are alone. They talk about $$ and everyone

assumes that Alex knows more than she does. Alex realizes that the

other kids are making a lot more money each month and she should be

making a lot more.

Episode Three

Scene 1: Mom meeting. Kimberly has gathered all of the moms and is

giving the low down on the upcoming trip. Kimberly tells the moms that

they need to bond for the sake of the squad and she’ll be there to

watch their kids.

Scene 2: Kid meeting. Kimberly has gathered all of the kids together

without their moms. She jokes that the “boys have to ride with me” and

“no sex!” as she jokes about the upcoming trip.

Scene 3: Ramona and Kimberly are experiencing tension. Kimberly and

Alex tell Ramona that Ramona and James should create merch. They both

hype up James and talk about making YouTube videos. Ramona is starting

to question Kimberly.

Scene 4: It’s Lea’s birthday, and all the kids ignore her. They all

have plans outside of the house and Alex also ignores her. Lea keeps

trying to talk to people but no one will respond.

Scene 5: Ramona’s son James is getting fewer views. Ramona is checking

the stats and is confused.

Scene 6: Alex can’t ignore her daughter on her birthday and breaks

halfway through the day. She tells Lea that everyone is ignoring her

for a YouTube video.

Scene 7: Kimberly freaks out because Lea isn’t as sad as she needs to

be for the YouTube video. She can’t get her to react with tears and so

she has Katie kiss Garret.

Scene 8: Kimberly is once again acting as Grant the cat. She targets

James and runs through the house yelling, “Yeah, I’m going to fuck you

up the ass.” The kids are all laughing out of self-protection but also

running as fast as they can.

Scene 9: Start of the trip: road trip to Bombay. Kids are having a

blast. Stop at a water hole with climbing rocks. Kimberly is trying to

control James too much, acting childish and immature. James gets hurt

when she pushes him off a cliff at a water hole and he twists his

ankle.

Scene 10: In Bombay. Visit an old man’s home where Kimberly calls the

man “Uncle.” Everyone is told to wait in the car. We see the

drug-infested streets of Bombay. Confusing why the group has come.

Scene 11: Back home in LA. Katie & Lea take a shower late one night.

Hidden surveillance camera is placed in the corner of the bathroom.

Girls don’t know the camera is there. We see the top of their heads and

the rest obscured from the camera angle video.

Scene 12: YouTube Video Clip: Finished footage from Lea’s birthday

party episode.

Scene 13: Ayden is up all night communicating with someone over What’s

App and reading in Reddit groups about YouTube bots. He’s working hard

to find a way to control the channel views.

Condensed versions of episodes #4-#9.

Episode Four

The episode opens with a speakerphone conversation between an older

cameraman and James. His mom, Ramona, and the rest of his family are

listening as well. On the call, the cameraman is justifying his reasons

for ball-tapping James and James is uncomfortable. The cameraman

doesn’t realize that the family is listening in on speakerphone. After

this call, Ramona tells Kimberly that she wants out and she is leaving

with James.

Back at the house, Ayden mentions wanting to kill himself in front of

the girls. The girls are scared and confused. Ayden seems mentally

unstable and depressed. The other parents watch as James’s channel

tanks. Ayden tells Kimberly he figured out how to tank channels. We see

him come alive sharing this news with Kimberly and she rewards him with

a kiss. James’s channel is falling fast.

Alex begins to look into channel tanking. She’s trying to figure out

how the bots work and starts sneaking into Ayden’s computer room late

at night but she can’t log in. Mitch, the cameraman, is now

ball-tapping other boys. The kids complain to Kimberly and Ayden says

he doesn’t want him around but Kimberly defends him. Kimberly starts

releasing sexy videos of Katie. Oversexualized.

Final scene: James’s dad brings him back to the house without Ramona.

Episode Five

Ramona kicked out of her son’s life. She starts the lawsuit against

Kimberly and her “Squad.” Ayden untanks James’s channel because he’s

come back to the house. Kimberly decides whenever one of the kids

doesn’t listen to her, she’ll drop the views while telling the mom it’s

“just a bad tag.” The kids react by vying for attention and video time

with both Kimberly and Ayden.

Relationship talk for the channel, another strategy session. Lea wants

to leave the group but Alex doesn’t know what to do. She doesn’t even

have a car to look for apartments and can’t leave without Kimberly

knowing. Katie and James are locked in the closet together again.

YouTube video: creepy little 30-second bits throughout the episode with

the “relationships.” Ayden attaches these relationship videos and

swimwear videos to porn sites.

Alex steals Ayden’s $150k laptop to try to figure out what is going on.

Ayden freaks out when he finds out that his laptop is missing. Valerie

gets in trouble for talking to Ramona and is kicked out of the group.

Final scene: Kimberly confronts Alex.

Episode Six

Valerie and her son Garrett are kicked out of the Squad. We see her son

watching his friend’s stories and realizing that those kids really were

his friends, now he has no one.

Kimberly gets into the shower and we see a boy hiding. Alex gets a call

from their manager saying that Lea has been offered a 30k brand deal.

The manager tells Alex not to tell Kimberly because she knows Kimberly

won’t let her have the deal. Kimberly decides to sue another mom who is

talking bad about her. All the other moms are scared. Kimberly bans

everyone from the house except for Alex. In the middle of the night,

Kimberly drives to Bombay and comes back with multiple cats. Alex tries

to call her during the drive but Kimberly rejects the call. The manager

calls Kimberly and she answers. She learns about Alex’s brand deal.

Alex tries to leave and gets caught. We don’t know if Lea is coming.

Abusive scene. Kimberly yells at Valerie on the phone and finally, the

husband tells Kimberly to stop talking to his wife that way. Lenny the

Cat makes another appearance, chasing the girls around with butt-poking

and more perverse comments. Ramona discovers the video of the kids

talking about the inappropriate kiss and knocking on the door. Ramona’s

husband serves her with emancipation papers. Kimberly decides to try to

take Lea from her dad and calls her dad without telling Alex. Garrett

is posting on YouTube still and Valerie tries to encourage him but he

isn’t getting any views.

Final scene: Valerie sees her son crying in his bed when he thinks she

isn’t looking.

Episode Seven

Alex and Lea finally leave Kimberly and the squad, but Lea wants her

cat Muffins. The two sneak back into Kimberly’s place to grab her.

Kimberly is sent over the edge when she discovers that the cat was

taken and hunts Alex and Lea down, banging on their door. Ramona comes

back into the squad despite her former accusations and recounts all of

them. This sets the lawsuit back significantly.

Final scene: Kimberly and Katie get in a fight over a YouTube video

idea. Katie doesn’t want to hurt her YT boyfriend because she actually

likes him now but she’s forced to do the YT video “I Kissed My BF’s

Best Friend.” Katie’s boyfriend gets mad at her and she cries as she

takes the thumbnail.

Episode Eight

Alex finds a thumb drive and feels like she’s being watched. Alex

withholds information from the lawyers and the other moms wonder if

she’s a spy or if she’s done something wrong with Kimberly. Kimberly’s

dirty secrets come to light including that she sold her daughter’s used

panties online. “Old men like to sniff stuff,” Kimberly says with no

remorse. Kimberly is SERVED. Katie’s channel is demonetized. Kimberly

creates a fake pregnancy and fake miscarriage.

Final scene: Kimberly counter files for 30M and attempts to get the

moms on a racketeering charge.

Episode Nine

YouTube clips change from “My crush did X” to “Why all these moms

should be in prison.” LAWSUIT. Lawyers believe it will be easy to break

Ayden when he takes the stand. Lawyers decide it would be easier to

settle and not dispose Ayden. Valerie is so nervous, she rubs her hands

so hard they bleed. We find out there has been a spy in the mom’s group

and someone uploaded a Dropbox file with evidence, but it is actually a

fake text message. The fake text message is being used in the

countersuit.

Kimberly pillow talks Ayden and tells him it would be easier if he

killed himself so he wouldn’t be around to testify. Kimberly invites

the kids back into the squad and says she will give the moms $1 million

if they drop the deposition.

Final scene of series: Cut to black, follow behind a girl with dark

hair who is older now with slumped shoulders. She walks up to the

stand, we finally see it’s Alex’s daughter Lea who once had the loudest

personality. Now she is quiet and reserved. We see Kimberly staring her

down in the courtroom and her old friend Katie wearing a bright pink

dress. The lawyer asks, “Who’s Lenny the Cat?”
